I had the chance to meet Kuya Glenn while he was in Cebu for a seminar. We met-up in SM, along with Patrice, Kuya June, and Zarrah. It was my first time to meet Zarrah, and it was really flattering to know that she followed my blog and actually bothers to read my nonsense.

It was fun catching up with friends, like how Kuya June now has an SLR. Kuya Glenn was so nice and humble, like he always is. He was encouraging us to take pictures with his SLR, to ‘get into photography’. He’s such a great inspiration to aspiring photographers.

All in all, it was really fun being with them in SM. I’m really glad to have met these people and somehow have them in my life.

ARCHCon 2011

I’ve been posting a lot of costume updates for the past months, and finally, I can now show you guys what I’ve been making!

My friends and I attended ARCHCon 2011 which was held coincidentally on me and my twin’s birthday. The event was sponsored by Sacred Heart so it was no wonder why the event was held in the old campus.

Our group cosplayed Touhou characters. This was kind of a big leap for us, since this was the first time we cosplayed together as a group. We cosplayed namely Aya Shameimaru, Sakuya Izayoi and Remilia Scarlet from the same game. Although it took nearly a year for us to finally be done with our costumes, it was totally worth it!

Melodeya cosplayed Aya Shameimaru, a nosy photographer from Touhou. I remembered me and Patrice styling her wig since the original hairstyle of the wig didn’t have bangs! We’re pretty relieved on how it turned out. It even looks natural, to be honest.

Spotted the Snape from last con again! This time, I tried to please him by giving him an apple, which he wasn’t so pleased to see.

The theme of this convention was apocalyptic/zombie. There were a lot of contests, namely a male/female solo cosplay competition, best zombie competition, group cosplay competition, and a StarCraft /DoTA competition. The whole convention was packed up!

The flow of the convention was unique. It was a whole roleplay of a crack fantasy where Stocking was nice and that she and the proffessor needed to go back in time to defeat this zombie who was trying to take over their town.

One of the highlights of the convention were the famous illustrators of Cebu. They were all lined up in one table and had prints and cards on. Patrice saw Bleedman, the creator of The Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi of Snafu comics, and merely took a picture of him, nothing else. I felt like crying since I couldn’t see Bleedman in person. He was surrounded by numerous fanboys and fangirls. Talk about fame!

Pencil sketches from Bleedman.

The convention, unlike the one last year, had more stalls and sponsors. One of them was this cute takoyaki stall held by a Japanese father and daughter tandem! The daughter even had this School Rumble uniform on, which made it seem as if she was a part of a school fair. Talk about cuteness!

This zombie was the winner from the zombie cosplay competition! We managed to have a picture from him earlier. The zombie told us that we were fluffy people when he first saw us! To continue with the fluffiness, Kim and I made a heart pose (to which I wasn’t able to reciprocate Kim’s bottom half. Sorry, Kim!)

The quadrangle of this building had this lovely scene painted on its wall so Kim and I decided to make it seem as if it was a part of the Scarlet mansion. This is me trying to be a bossy, bratty Remilia to a stoic Sakuya.

People from school came to the convention! It was nice to see some familiar faces!

I was eating a stick of strawberry Pocky when Patrice took this shot. I look like a street child here. Hurm hurm hurm.

Had a picture with one of the emcees! He was extremely funny. If I’m not mistaken, I believe he was Mambo from last year’s ARCHCon.

We saw this extremely young cosplayer drinking milk from his bottle! He was so cute, we had to approach him!

He looks so in love with my apple.

Twilight pose! Never gets old.

A lot of my classmates have supportive family members. One of my friends had a supportive mother…

…while Melodeya and I have supportive sisters.

Us in the con:

SPAZZ!

SPAZZ! SPAZZ!

Had a picture with one of the illustrators. He draws Marvel comics.

Cebu’s a tiny island! The girl on my right was my opponent in the Scrabble tournament at the Milo Little Olympics!

The lovely Jessica Ouano came to the event as well. She was really tall!

This kid suddenly came running to Patrice, and showed her his peashooter plushie. What a cutie!

All the cosplayers were asked to go onstage at the end of the event. When we were going down, I asked help from Kim in bringing me down. I may not look like it, but I’m slightly terrified by heights. This shot was candid on my part, but not on Kim’s.

Also! I saw my favorite Digimon today, I just had to take a picture with her! /Digimon dreams forevs.

Patrice won these Meiji sticks from the Japanese delicacies shop. They had a one-peso raffle, and this pretty dress was part of the raffle.

I met my good friend Marla in the con as well. We keep on bumping to each other in conventions, improving as we go along. She was a great Lel!

I had so much fun at this year’s ARCHCon. Although my wings weren’t given to me because of some reasons, a lot of people still came up to ask for my picture, which I’m really thankful for. It’s in events like these wherein you would want to continue in doing what you do, and grow better in it. I’m looking forward to the next conventions coming ahead!

Abellana Sports Complex

The other day on the news, The Cebu Dance Troupe won about 38 trophies in a certain dance competition that was held in the United States.

Coincidentally, my family and I went to to the Abellana Sports Complex, where that dance troupe came from.

And the dance floor? It’s not a very good dance floor.“-Abellana dance instructor, on their wins despite the dance floor they practiced on.

Looking at the amount of youngsters learning ballroom dance is amazing. They’re all very skillful and it’s just jaw-dropping to look at them.

The racing track in the sports complex is also a favored spot to practice dance routines. I’ve seen the cheer leading squad of the University of San Carlos along with their choreographer and a few girls in a hip-hop group.

The last time I went to the sports complex was when I was still a kindergartener. And since I’m not a very active person, I don’t go here much. I’m glad to know that not much has changed, but it’s very refreshing to see that a lot of people go here just because.

Class Observation Tour: Ayala

After touring Coca Cola Bottlers Phils., our school brought us to Ayala for lunch and some ‘sight-seeing’. It was slightly embarrassing on my part since almost everyone was taking pictures of the most minute decoration in the mall, making us all seem like tourists. /hides in a corner and cries

Our class was divided into three groups for touring around the mall. Each group was given a chaperon, and that group should not stray too far from their chaperon. Fortunately, me and my friends belonged to the same group. Genvic (the girl on the left) and I were craving for McDonald’s in the beginning of the week, so we dragged all of the girls to the Ayala Branch for lunch there.

We thenĀ proceeded to the Terraces (once a lagoon, now Ayala’s open mall corner) for some sight-seeing and camwhoring.

I nearly died every time we were asked to pose in a certain place.

But nevertheless, I had fun!

Joan and Shannette were currently into Boyfriend because of yours truly, so they asked me to do a series of Youngmin winks for the lulz in the midst of all the camwhoring.

Expectations:

Reality:

Me doing the same pose… in three pictures.

Since I failed in the Youngmin task, my group mates had to punish me.

Sad Pammy is sad.

Another thing about our tour was that we weren’t allowed to stray from our chaperone. It was a good thing our chaperone was the funny guidance counselor instead of the strict vice principal.

On a side note, I would like to try the new photo set feature Tumblr has now. A lot of people are now using this function and I would really want to make a photo set too! The problem is, I don’t really have photos and stuff, and I honestly think that the posts I make nowadays are better formatted this way than as a photo set. What do you think?

Sunday Road Trip

On the second day of our trip, we made a small dip in the most favorable time to take a swim in the falls. Even though the fog cleared out, it was still really chilly.

Even though the water was chillier than ever, swimming around it was really nice. Swimming in the early morning is really the best time to go swimming in Kawasan Falls.

These two were the only two pictures we could get before it started to rain on the way back. There were lots of things that would have been a great stop, like this huge milk station. It rains a lot in the mountains since clouds practically cover it up.

If you ever reach Barili, then Palalong Place is a great guest house. It has comfortable facilities and the view is just stunning. If you go down a very(!!!) risky staircase, you can reach a nice beach.

Look at how the clouds just gather around the mountains.

If you’re in Carcar and you want to try the carenderia experience, Park Place is a decent mini-bar. It’s a simple pillar-like store with open air situated near the beach. It also has its own swimming pool where you can take a dip for a measly fifty pesos.

When we (finally!) reached the city, we decided to drop by Crocolandia, a crocodile/animal sanctuary here in Cebu.

Crocolandia was originally a turtle farm but ever since the owners decided to purchase and mate two crocodiles (Magellan and Lapu-lapu), they started buying exotic animals and one day, decided to share their farm to everyone else.

They have a museum wherein they show their preserved animals. It’s really amazing to see the animals and realize that they were once alive in this zoo. ;-;

Lapu-lapu, the mate of Magellan, who is responsible for striking ‘inspiration’ to the owners in making Crocolandia.

There’s a small food court in the animal sanctuary which offers tourist-friendly food. Beside it is a playground for kids. The food court is a cute place to stay if you’re going to Crocolandia for a date.

After the side trip to Crocolandia, we stopped in Sugbu just to take pictures.

South Escapade

My mother was able to go into a trip to the south of Cebu with one of her clients in the weekend. I was fortunate enough to have a small amount of schoolwork to join the trip (Wish you came along, Patrice!).

The trip to the south is just as interesting as the destination itself, and so I took the liberty by taking lots of pictures, trying to rediscover Cebu.

The street in SRP is a really enjoyable street for a joyride. The streets are ultra smooth and this part of the island is yet to be urbanized. There are hidden camera monitoring the road which is *quite* a shock in my part. I guess this means that Cebu is going to look like this little by little? *crosses fingers*

You tend to see lots of old houses as you go deeper in the south, to my pleasure.

White smoke from a factory in the south. Even their factories are environment-friendlier than in the cities.

The Kawasan Falls are located on the tip of a certain mountain in the south, in the barangay of Badian. The location is really far off since the clouds touch the mountain’s tips, making rains and fog frequent.

By the time we arrived in the falls, it was raining really hard. You have to take a fifteen-minute walk to go to the falls itself, and the view going there is just simply amazing.

I saw some people use banana leaves as umbrellas as they crossed this bridge. Genius! You can’t tell, but it was raining really hard as I took this picture *needs to upgrade camera*.

There’s this nice mini-cafe near the falls where they sell food and hot coffee. The prices are targeted for foreigners though, since a serving of simple longannisa is quite overpriced.

Even though the hike was tiring, it was totally worth it. I was simply amazed with the falls and the chilly atmosphere. It was great!

I haven’t really seen fog before since Cebu is basically Summer City, but you can guess I was amazed at all that fog surrounding the water/ignorant. I was actually scared of swimming in the waters since I had a feeling they were ultra cold (and they were!)

Hey, mom.

Just beside the falls is a homey apartelle that offers food and shelter. Rates are affordable and facilities are satisfactory.

It takes at least three hours to go to the falls, depending where you depart. The falls are best visited in dry season, preferrably May and the swim is enjoyable in early morning, specifically six o’ clock in the morning.

Tomorrow, on August 22, 2010

catch me in SM Cebu City Northwing, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm with other cosplayers.

See you there! :)
